2022 1hr & 3hr Results

This is a long one but due so we can say thank you for our event today.

We did it. We rode today and everyone had a great time. 87 riders had a ball. Not our biggest year but really appreciated as just a week out we did not have a lot of entries. Thanks to our hard-working volunteers that promoted this event over the past week.

Thank you to our competitors. Without you what we do is pointless and everyone was respectful, careful and courteous. You all rock.

The day started out wet soggy and muddy. We set up and took entries in the rain and in time for the ride the rain eased and then stopped. A small miracle.

We were blessed to get both the 1hr and the 3hr completed without further rain. We slipped around in transition in muddy boots and the riders all took care in the trails in the greasy bits and in bridges. They came in smiling with muddy bums and mud-caked bikes. Some small people danced in puddles and had the time of their lives. Lots of smiling.

We were grateful for our generous and prolific sponsors. Everyone who rode in the 1hr went home with prizes. Significant ones for the category winners and useful ones for the other riders. We had 22 riders and they all enjoyed our sponsor’s generosity.

The prize pool for the 3hr was also significant.  We had 65 riders and most left with serious prizes for the winners and spares and other sponsors gifts for the remaining riders in the field. Even some extra apples.

Vouchers at bike shops and other stores, and gloves, and t shirts, and tools, and beers, and bike spares, and caps, and rear lights, and drink bottles, and keep cups, and stubbie holders, and beautiful wooden pens, and dinner out, and coffee/cake vouchers and it goes on and on.

Thank you from the bottom of our collective hearts to our loyal sponsors who include Tumut River Brewing Co Wagga Cycle Centre Kidsons Cycles Ground Up Tumut Tumut Toyworld Snowy Valleys Council  The Bush Chemist Tumut Zacharia Naumann Optometry Goode’s Coaches Tumut Tumut Plant Hire Tom’s Outdoors The Coffee Pedaler Tumut Freight Service Truenorth Helicopters Groves The cafe in Wagga that supports Wagga MTB (Dave Reid pls say thank you for us) Sounds of The Mountains FM96.3 FM94.3 FM94.1 Tumut Bricks and Pavers Wayne Skein Arcscape Forest Centre. I am feeling brave I don’t think I have missed anyone and if I have I humbly apologise.

RDA NSW Tumut thanks for the BBQ. Nice to have you back. And a shout out to MKS who came in on short notice to keep us in coffee and cake.

Tumut’s event is famous for our Batlow apples and today did not disappoint. Thanks to our apple sponsor Snowy Hydro every rider received bags of apples as did our volunteers and community groups that support our event. Snowy were also very generous with spot prizes of keep cups, stainless drink bottles and commemorative crafted pens.

AKD Tumut. Yet again they have supported our annual event on many levels. Thank you

Thanks to MTB Wagga for your continued support. Equipment and people including our commissionaire and timing.

And we should all pat each other on the back. Our locals who make this happen. Trails, not just for the event but for all of the year. Event planning and admin for this day. On the day for everything we need – entries timekeeping prizes set up and tear down and so it goes on. For just everything. Hooray to us all.

This event is our annual fundraiser and we use the income from our event to maintain the trails where we need materials – all of the actual work is a labour of love from our trail building volunteers.  We use the income to do signage and mapping and meet any other costs we have to keep the trails open

And so to our landholder. Forest NSW. We appreciate the support you provide (including sponsorship of our event fee) and our continued relationship that allows us to build the trail network. All of the riders, walkers, runners and other trail users appreciate your generosity.

We will be back in 2023 for another great day in the bush. Thank you and congratulations to everyone who is a part of our event. It was a good day.
